Using a 'custom URL' to mask Clicktools.com branding from your survey URL.

Clicktools allows you to apply a custom URL to replace the clicktools.com part of a survey link. This is visible in the address bar of an internet browser and will enable you to mask Clicktools branding with something relating to your organisation. This is achieved through the use of a DNS alias for the http://www.clicktools.com/ address, specified in your domain.

For example: if you want to replace the 'www.clicktools.com' part of a survey link with 'survey.yourorganisation.com' you would create a CNAME DNS record 'survey.yourorganisation.com' IN CNAME 'www.clicktools.com' This doesn't require you to register a new domain, only that you create, or get a DNS/web hosting provider to create the DNS record. The survey URL would then become for example: http://survey.yourorganisation.com/survey?iv=1234567890

NOTE: This is different from creating an HTTP redirect, which does not hide the clicktools.com address in the browser, and will not work due to additional redirects that happen from within the Clicktools application.

For the technically adept, it is possible to configure a web server to act as a reverse proxy for the Clicktools survey. This allows any URL to be used for the survey. We don't provide technical support for this, but it's not too difficult to setup if you know what you're doing.
Once you have set up the sub domain, you need to tell us what it is and we can apply it to your account. Once we have done this, survey links deployed from Clicktools will automatically show the new sub domain as part of the link.

NOTE: There is one off set cost to enable the custom URL functionality in Clicktools and apply your sub domain to your account. For further information please email: sales@clicktools.com.
